Complaint filed against MontgomeryCounty Prosecutor
July 15, 2007
What are your thoughts regarding allegations that Montgomery County Presecutor Matt Heck violated the Hatch Act by pressuring subordinates to contribute money and time to political campaigns?

This would be Montgomery County’s opportunity to get a presecutor that would actually want to convict criminals. However, the mob wouldn’t like the switch so it will not happen.

Is this really a surprise to anyone…?
Look at the Auditor’s office!
While I am sure there are no real Federal laws being broken, Keith does the same thing.
It is known that he pushes for donations, last year he tasked each area of his office with providing “volunteers” at parades on a rotating basis, and passed campaign info within that office, using GIS maps to get his yard signs out.
But is all this part of the “culture of corruption”, definitely not, this is an attack by the Bush administration.
If the Dems weren’t such a threat to our nation and county they would almost be laughable.
The sad thing is all of the sheeple that follow them no matter what road they go down because they don’t want to vote for we evil Republicans.
I will be surprised if this even makes the paper again. It’s been around 7 or 8 months since this whole investigation started and was briefly mentioned and then disappeared.

Matt Heck is just following the likes of Rep.”SOCIALIST”
Pelosi and Senator “Dingy,’THE WAR IS LOST’Reid!!
Democrats are held to a “DOUBLE STANDARD” compared to
Republicans, as we all “well know”! If Matt Heck had
any scruples at all, he would resign his post! But,
this is Montgomery County, OHIO, so I doubt this will
occur! Goes to show you why I don’t trust “one word”
from a registered Democrat! They follow the “Clinton
playbook”!
ENOUGH SAID!

We should be professional about this. Republicans don’t do lynching. Like racism and genocide, that’s a Democrat phenomenon. Heck is innocent until proven guilty.
However, if and when charges against him are proven, he should do the decent thing and resign. Of course, being a Democrat, he won’t. I hope the County GOP is already screening strong candidates to run against him.

I personally applied multiple times with Heck’s office during my years in law school and post-graduation. I have heard from numerous attorneys and judicial officers in Montgomery County that he engaged in such practices. I’ve heard his annual office party is the Frolic for Funds fundraiser, which he expects all of his APAs to attend. If these allegations are true–and I resound the comment that these are just CHARGES, which do not necessarily equate to a CONVICTION–then he should consider stepping down. I wonder what that would do for the reelection campaign of his wife, Vandalia Municipal Judge Heck?

Not sure of the details, but it may violate state law 3517.092.

Everyone is innocent until proven quilty, so it is somewhat premature to play the “Democrat Media Game” of quilty before justice and let the media run the case. Nevertheless, saying this, with Dayton and the State of Ohio now being an official “BLUE” liberal city and state, as well as the liberal media, I do not have much confidence that the public will ever know the complete truth. Furthermore, if he is found quilty, the Dayton Daily News and local stations will not be fair and balanced. Simply, the entire situation and story will be tilted and become a “Right Wing Conspiracy.” In addition, we must remember that the Matt Heck is surrounded with many loyal, wealthy, powerful local and state individuals-politicals and individuals. He too is wealthy, and his wife is now judge in Riverview or Huber Heights (I think). More important, she is an outstanding lawyer with connections and power in her own right.
If he is found quilty, I think the Republicans should demand his resignation, as well as let the entire State hear the true story. It is interesting that Ken Blackwell stood up against corruption and pressed charges aginst those individuals in the Taft Administration who had done illegal activities, yet Mr. Blackwell did not get elected. Meanwhile, his opponent openly allowed drug deals to take place in his office. I do not know the entire story, so please excuse me if I have do not have all the facts correct. My point is this: There is a double standard when it comes to Republican and Democrat elected officials.
The Democrats can do whatever they want – JUST LOOK AT THE CLINTON’S, BERGER, JEFFERSON FROM LO, ETC… Meanwhile, S. LIBBY is sentenced to prison for the same crime that Bill Clinton was found quilty of. Meanwhile, our President did not even fully pardon Libby. GW knew the Democrats would be furious, so why not completely pardon Libby? The courts stated he did not violate any crime in conjunction with blowing the cover of special agent, who wasn’t even a special agent at that time.
Are Republicans just dumb, naive, and stupid? Or, are Republicans just too honest for their own good? As such, I will be surprised if the courts take the charges against Matt Heck any further. I am confident that the charges will be dropped or some other deal will be made. As stated, the local and state media and politicans will not let it happen.

The impunity with which pols, especially Ds, seem to ignore the basic campaign laws never ceases to amaze me. Aren’t the provisions of the Hatch Act part of Behavior 101 for people taking political jobs? Maybe it is, and the subject is never broached again.
So here we have the guy who’s supposed to be prosecuting lawbreakers accused of breaking one of the basic laws in his occupation as an elected official.
News like this makes me think we should just keep our heads down, and let the Ds continue wrecking their own chances.

It’s bad of course. Prosecutors in particular need to be apolitical, since they hold more power to ruin people. Look at Mike Nifong or, to some extent, Ronnie Earl. They are both Democrats, but my point applies to any corrupt Republicans as well. They undermine our trust in law enforcement and “the system,” and if they can’t be trusted, who can?
As for this presenting some openings for Republicans, perhaps. But they’d better wake up and start giving us reasons to vote for them, instead of just telling us why they think we should vote against their opponents.

It is amazing to read the comments responding to the story about Matt Heck’s relationship with the employees in the Prosecutor’s office. It appears that only Republican bias has a voice. Where are his Democratic defenders?
These accusations by Mr. Bloch are so typical of Republican dirty tricks that it’s hard to believe that Prosecutor Heck has violated any law, including the Hatch Act. I suspect there’s a lot of latitude in interpreting what the law allows and what constitutes a violation. If Mr. Heck and Mr. Flannagan have been publicly and unjustly accused of violating a law, they should sue Special Councel Scott Bloch for libel and character assination.

Hugh…
So nice to have the blog graced by a Democrat!!
It amazes me that when an investigation is called on a Dem it is immediately a dirty trick but when a Republican does something that is not a crime whatsoever you all immediately call for a lynching.
It looks as though ole Matty boy’s only defender is you!
